This site is dedicated to the study of the Lower Medway
Valley in North Kent here
defined as that part of the river which cuts through
the greensand ridge and the North Downs. This
can be taken to be from East Farleigh to Rochester.
The site adopts a
multi-discipline approach to the study of the Lower
Medway Valley in all its aspects.
Diagrams of the river are shown with the source at the
top of the page with the river flowing from top to
bottom i.e. south to north. Travelling upstream is
moving up the page towards the source and caters for
expressions such as 'above the bridge' (source side) or
'below the bridge' (sea side).
The orientation of artists impressions and technical
drawings are described within the supporting text.
