Castle and stone bridge

Description:
East end of the bridge makes landfall at Rochester.  Note how close the bridge is to the castle wall.  It was constructed about 40 yards upstream from the Roman bridge.   Is the structure to the right of the exit a bridge tower (watchtower)?
