The engine is a Class Q locomotive and thought to have been photographed around 1900 as it crossed Snodland marsh.

ELECTRIFICATION

The Paddock Wood to Maidstone line was extended to Strood in l856.  In 1939 the Strood to Maidstone section was electrified with the Paddock Wood section following in 1961.
